THE KINGDOM OF AXUM

The Kingdom of Axum, was a powerful empire which replaced The Kingdom of Kush as the dominant power within The Horn of Africa, following the fall of ancient Kemet, subsequently by The Persians, Greeks and Romans.

The pre and proto- Axumites within The Horn were closely associated in culture and linguistic kinship with populations within The Arabian Peninsula, exerting political and economic dominance within the latter often during its rise.

Many faith traditions were practiced within the boundaries of Axum, including Sabeanism, Judaism as well as Hinduism and Buddhism, yet Axum became the very first nation to institute Christianity as the state religion.
